Day 5: Cardio Power & Resistance
c
Bottom line: Despite not feeling it today, I conquered this workout yet again and have seen some improvement already. I supplemented with extra upper body work and am considering adding a barre training workout or two to my weekly routine.
I didn't feel like working out today- I've hit that end-of-the-week slump- but it was off to the races with Cardio Power & Resistance today. And like my second go at Plyo Cardio Circuit, this went even better the second time around. I again accomplished my goal of doing all the push-ups off my toes, and my heart rate went up to a racing 192 BPM during one of the intervals. I still feel like i'm pacing myself a little too much during some of them, but I'm generally following the group, so I can't be slacking too much.
I did a set of 40 consecutive push-ups off my toes after the workout today, which is an improvement, plus 3 pull-ups, 3 bicep pull-ups and 3 chin-ups, which is not an improvement, but since I haven't been doing them for long at all, I expect that'll take some time. I think I could do at least 6 of each if I were using momentum, so maybe I should try to doing that next time just to see how I do.
I'm also thinking of adding a barre conditioning workout or two during my week. I was attending barre classes for a couple weeks locally, but they're expensive, and I didn't feel like I was getting enough of a workout to justify skipping one of my regular workouts. That said, they feel good, and I think they're an excellent supplement to my routine- not to mention the fact that they target different muscles. I also don't mind doing them in the morning, and I absolutely hate doing any other kind of workout in the morning. We'll see, if I have the energy, I'll add in a barre workout on Saturday morning.
