Day 6: Pure Cardio

For the
Yesterday I went back to Get Ripped 1000, which should be my last round of that one for a while because I'm starting some new rotations next week, and added on my supplemental pushups and core work. I'm not sure what it was about it, but something hit me and I was feeling a little sore this morning. Despite that fact, I did two barre workouts this morning back-to-back: The Bar Method- Designer Sculpting and Cardio Callanetics. They were a little tiring, but I wasn't expecting them to affect my "actual" workout.
Well, they certainly did. I should have remembered that today was Pure Cardio, which I find to be the most strenuous of the Insanity workouts I've done so far. My legs were burning even before I hit those frog jumps, and I had to really push myself through it. I did the drills on my knees again as a result. Since the barre workout affected my Insanity training, I'm probably going to reverse the two if I ever do them on the same day in the future: Insanity first, followed by barre, since barre is much more modifiable.
Anyway, unlike the other two, Pure Cardio didn't seem to get any easier this time around, but more importantly, it definitely did not become more enjoyable. Since I'm not doing the Insanity rotation as-is anyway, I'm considering cutting it out of my routine. The second month workouts are much more strenuous and longer, but considering I did the Fit Test and Plyo Cardio Circit back-to-back on my first day, I think I can handle it, and I'd rather do a more strenuous, longer workout that has actual intervals in it. I still find it frustrating that Pure Cardio doesn't have intervals, because it really prevents me from performing at my maximum during each exercise. Sustained cardio, no matter what the level, is exactly what I'm trying to wean myself from by doing the Insanity workouts.
Tomorrow's a rest day, but I might do another barre routine. I'm already feeling sore from today, but I had forgotten how much I enjoy them!
