Days 8 & 9: Cardio Power & Resistance, Pure Cardio & Cardio Abs

Bottom line: Traveling with Insanity was a success, I passed my two-week milestone, and I feel recommitted to Insanity as I continue through Month I.

I was out of town for a conference for a few days so was unable to blog, but that offered me the unique experience of doing Insanity in my hotel room. It was so portable! I'm used to traveling with my workouts, but I had a renewed appreciation for Insanity's time compactness and lack of space demands. I couldn't blast music concurrently, but I found that it didn't matter- the workouts are so hard that I was focused the whole time and felt no boredom regardless.

Anyway, I did Cardio Abs for the first time after Pure Cardio, and whooooah! Part of the problem was that on the day prior, I had done Cardio Core Circuit as my "rest" day from Insanity, so my abs were still sore from that. But I usually breeze through ab workouts, even the so-called advanced ones, and this one punished me. To top off my training, I also tried Core Fusion Lean & Toned that evening (using 5 lb weights instead of the recommended 3 lbs), and found the ab challenge of that workout extremely challenging as a result. I finished my day with 35 consecutive pushups.

I also just realized that it's the end of Week 2! I'm planning on skipping the fit test and just doing it at the end of the first month, but I already know I've improved.  Not only that, but I'm leaning out- surprisingly enough, especially in my arms. I've also lost a few pounds (unintentionally). Some of that may simply be due to the fact that I'm doing less strength training, which tends to cause me to retain water and look less lean, but it's nice anyway.
